Ebooks going on general sale, update on physical books
over 3 years ago – Mon, Nov 30, 2020 at 11:17:50 PM

Hello lovely backers!

All of you should have received ebook copies of Rebuilding Tomorrow and any other ebooks you were expecting from us. If you have not received your ebook(s) yet, please get in touch with us! We are here to help.

Now that all Backers should have their ebook copies, we will be putting the ebook of Rebuilding Tomorrow on general sale on the 11th of December. At that point it will be available for non-Backers to purchase from the normal ebook stores and from the Twelfth Planet Press website.

As for the paperback and hard cover copies of the books, we had some minor technical issues with the printing, which we are in the process of resolving. We still expect some backers to receive their books by the end of the year (and we are conscious of possible problems with Brexit and shipping so will be prioritising affected backers), but this will also depend on the situation with your local postal system.

All the best,

Tsana & Alisa

Backerkit locking soon
over 3 years ago – Sun, Nov 01, 2020 at 11:55:54 PM

Dear lovely backers,

We have been hard at work turning Rebuilding Tomorrow into an actual book, rather than just a collection of story files. We're in the final stages now (keep a eye on Twitter for photos of the proof copies, when they arrive), which means we'll be locking orders on Backerkit soon, so that we can start fulfilment as soon as the books are ready to go.

We will be locking Backerkit on the 4th of November, so if you haven't yet completed your Backer survey, please do so before then, otherwise we won't be able to get your book or other pledge items to you. You can also expect an email from Backerkit in the near future, reminding you that orders will be locked. If you have any problems with accessing Backerkit or your survey, please get in touch with us, we are here to help.

If you know of anyone who missed out on our Kickstarter but would still like to get their hands on Rebuilding Tomorrow as soon as possible, you can direct them to our preorder store on Backerkit. Note that this will also be locked on November 4th, so there's not much time left for people to lock in one of the first copies of Rebuilding Tomorrow.

Stay safe, everyone!

Shipping bug fixed, table of contents announced, and late pledges
over 3 years ago – Sat, Oct 10, 2020 at 07:19:48 AM

Dear lovely backers,

We have a few important things to cover in this backer update. The most important one is that we have identified a bug in how shipping was being calculated for some backers. This is explained in more detail below — if you pledged for a physical reward and also ordered physical add-ons, please read carefully. We also have an announcement of our table of contents at the end of the update, so be sure to scroll to the end even if you only backed or ordered digital rewards.

Shipping bug and resolution

The problem: When backers of physical reward levels added-on physical rewards of the same type, they were charged extra shipping when they should not have been. So backers of print books who added on additional print books should have received a shipping discount and backers of pins who ordered more pins should have also received a shipping discount. Due to issues with how Backerkit handled this the discount was not applied.

The solution: If you are affected by this problem, the solution is to go back into Backerkit (even if you’ve already completed your survey) and change your selection for the affected add-on. For example, if you backed Rebuilding Tomorrow for a paperback copy and want to add any extra print books, you should now choose the option that’s labelled “Defying Doomsday Paperback for paperback backers” instead of just “Defying Doomsday Paperback” and so on for the other books you want to add on to your order.

This problem does not apply to people who backed at pledge levels with included shipping; in those cases add-on shipping costs will have been correct from the start.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to help you!

Table of Contents

In very exciting news, Tsana has finalised the table of contents for Rebuilding Tomorrow. There will be fifteen previously-unpublished stories coming your way from some excellent authors. Here is the complete list:

Backerkit coming soon
over 3 years ago – Wed, Sep 23, 2020 at 10:31:21 PM

Dear lovely Backers,

In the weeks since the end of our Kickstarter campaign, we have been busy at work editing and putting together Rebuilding Tomorrow. Now the book is well on the way to being ready to send to the printer on schedule and we will be announcing the table of contents at the start of October, so stay tuned for that.

The most important message of this update is that Backerkit surveys will be going out in a few days. You can read more about that below, as well as some updates to our production and shipping schedules.

Backerkit

Backerkit is the system we will be using to organise your pledges and any add-ons you wish to purchase. If you added extra money to your pledge, you will be able to tell us in Backerkit what add-ons you want to put it towards. There are also additional items — mostly older Twelfth Planet Press titles — that you can order. If you decide you want more add-ons than you originally planned, then Backerkit will charge you the difference when you finish up. We will also be collecting shipping fees in Backerkit.

Shipping fees

Generally, shipping fees are as they were advertised during the Kickstarter campaign. There has been one change, unfortunately, due to changes in postal services owing to the pandemic: There is an increase in shipping cost for enamel pins being sent to countries other than Australia. Originally we priced these as $6 AUD to ship overseas from Australia, but our shipping option has been discontinued for the foreseeable future and so we now have to charge $8 AUD. There is also likely to be a delay in sending these out. The good news is, if you live outside of Australia and ordered a pin and another non-book physical item (such as a mug or something knitted), your pin will not be delayed. The problem is only for orders of one or a few pins and no other non-book items. If you would prefer to change your order, you can still change your pledge and use the money you have already paid to buy other add-ons such as ebooks or physical books (which are not hampered by the same problem).

Books

As I mentioned at the start of this update Rebuilding Tomorrow is currently on schedule to be sent to the printer when we originally planned. For backers in most regions, that means we are currently expecting to get the books to you in November.

For backers in North America, however, there are currently delays at our printer. Processing time is more than three times as long as for the European and Australian printers (which are running as normal). This means that even if we get our books submitted to the printer on time, there will still be a delay in printing them before they can be posted out. We are hoping that the books will still arrive before the end of the year, but unfortunately this is out of our control. The books will still arrive, but they will probably be late.

The above only affects North American backers, since other regions are served by the printers in the UK and Australia.

Progress pic

To end on a lighter note, the magnets that are part of our "Earlybird Rebuilder’s Badge" pledge level have arrived. Aren't they cute?

over 3 years ago – Wed, Sep 02, 2020 at 10:45:16 AM

Hello lovely backers and thank you all for your support!

As you probably saw from the automatic Kickstarter email, our campaign officially ended yesterday. We finished with 553 backers pledging AU$ 17,643 and we are very grateful for each and every one of you!

Now we are busy making Rebuilding Tomorrow and getting Backerkit set up so that we can finish preparing all your rewards. You can expect our next update when Backerkit is ready to go.
